Ses parents sont l'acteur Timothy Spall et Shane (née Baker) Spall. Il a deux sœurs, Pascale et Mercedes Spall.

Vie privée

Il est marié depuis 2010 à l'actrice Elize du Toit. Ils ont trois enfants. Lena Spall, née en 2011, Rex Spall, né en 2012 et un autre fils, né en 2015.
